Innovative measurement methods and measures of corporate sustainability, such as composite indicators, multi-criteria performance metrics or indicator based process analyses, etc. are approaches to help companies in managing their contribution to sustainable development. To support the activities aiming at sustainability improvements of organisations, accountants, among other professionals, can play an important role in extending performance measurement beyond the established externally oriented corporate social and environmental accountability and reporting activities. This special issue aims at extending the current knowledge on sustainability measurement and accounting approaches. It attempts to encourage researchers, practitioners and policy makers to consider all organizations, regardless of their processes, products, size, structure, location, and existing management and accounting systems.
